Charlie, a former Aboriginal Warrior, is struggling to accept the modern world and the laws of whites which seem absurd, when his peers seem to have given up. He decides to return to live in the bush after the manner of the ancients. But his fate will take another path: that of his own redemption.

An incredibly human film, directed with great finesse and poetry. An affecting portrait interpreted by a rare but great actor for a moving testimony about the living conditions of the Aboriginal peoples of Australia.

As part of the regular Cannes Cinéma screenings, Cannes will host a retrospective of French director Claude Miller between February 17 and 20, 2014. The films being shown include L’Effrontée, Mortelle randonnée and Je suis heureux que ma mère soit vivante.

Guests that have been invited include Annie Miller, Guy Marchand, Didier Bezace, Yves Jacques and Yves Verhoeven.

Film noir double bill with "Laura" by Otto Preminger and "Assurance sur la Mort" by Billy Wilder. Screening at 6.30pm with a drink between the two. Théâtre de La Licorne
